Summertime Fun Series-Parks & Playgrounds

We are knee deep in summertime and it feels good!! Did I mention that summer is my favorite season? Well it is! We just got back from a much needed vacation in South Carolina and let me tell you it got me revved up and ready to tackle the rest of my summer with my kids. Has their constant bickering stopped? No. Do they like being near each other now? Well, not really. But I’m determined to make the most out of the rest of our summer which will hopefully, in turn, help their sibling rivalry simmer.

With that being said, one of my favorite activities (that is also super cheap, score!) is taking the kids to the park or playground. We have quite a few within a 30 minute distance from us so it’s nice to park hop and try new ones. Most are completely free which makes it such an easy outing to invite friends to or just go solo as a family.

I always make sure to pack a variety of snacks or a picnic lunch, depending on the time of day we go, and of course plenty of water. I love packing everything into a tote, I have a million Thirty-One Gifts large utility totes because I used to sell them, but there are more reasonably priced totes out there, that look exactly like the pricey ones I have and probably work just as great.

I can pack multiple lunch bags, one for each kid because you know they can’t have their food touching their siblings ๐Ÿ˜†. I also can fit any water bottles or extra drinks and extra necessities we might need, like a blanket or towel, change of clothes and/or shoes. Is it just my kids who like to change their shoes multiple times in a day or even in an hour?!

Since, we park/playground hop the kids don’t have a chance to get bored with the equipment so we always end up staying a couple of hours. Plenty of time to get much needed energy out of their bodies and to get the littlest good and ready for nap time ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s always so fun to map out the next park we’re going to try. I try to get my older kids involved and then sometimes I like it to be a surprise. Since the majority of the outing has been free I usually will treat them to a McDonalds ice cream cone on the way home or let them have a popsicle at home.

What are some your favorite places to go with your kids? Do you like to be adventurous or stay close to home? There’s nothing like a little spontaneity to get your day going โ˜บ๏ธ

Happy summer fun friends!
